Reflection

Throughout the years that I have been in school, I have taken many English classes that focused on a variety of topics. This class was beneficial because it focused on using a variety of different writing genres to convey information about specific topics. By using different styles, I was able to see how each one can be used to target a specific audience. In addition, I learned how the use of visuals can be a powerful tool in conveying your message. They can show ideas that are difficult to describe in words and evoke greater emotions about a topic. Writing the final essay about plastic was helpful because it combined several of the ideas that were learned throughout the class. It emphasized using research to back up you opinions and being able to see both sides of an argument. It was challenging to come up with an idea of how we should change the world by reducing the amounts of plastic used. Overall, this class and writing this paper made me a stronger writer by giving me greater experience in a variety of genre styles.
